What is the Menopause?

It is when your body is no long producing eggs for fertilization and undergoes a number of important hormonal changes. For "women of a certain age", you can be said to be menopausal if you have missed twelve consecutive periods.  Some symptoms can occur before this, when a woman is said to be perimenopausal.

The symptoms can range in intensity from mildly annoying to totally debilitating. These can include, but are not limited to, hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, forgetfulness, aches and pains, anxiety and insomnia.

Traditionally it has been treated with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
